Build usable sentences
Study the pattern, then replace the example information with details from your own situation.
Verb reduplication
V一V / VV / V了VReduplicate a verb to make a short, light or tentative action sound natural.
别 for 'don't'
别 + VPUse 别 before a verb phrase for a direct but common negative request or warning.
Sentence-final particles
...啊 / 吧 / 了 / 呢Final particles soften tone, suggest an action, mark a new situation or keep a topic/question active.
Serial verb sentences
S + V1 + (O1) + V2 + (O2)Put two related actions in sequence when the same subject performs both and the first sets up the second.
Pivotal sentences
S + V1 + person + V2In a pivotal sentence, the object of the first verb is also the subject of the second action.
Causative 让
S + 让 + person + VPUse 让 to say that someone lets, asks or causes another person to do something.
Double-object sentences
S + V + person + thingWith verbs such as 给、送、告诉, the person can come directly before the thing or message.
