Separable verbs
V + O → V了 + quantity + OSome common two-character verbs behave like verb-object phrases, so time, quantity or aspect can appear between the two parts.
一共 and 一起
一共 + quantity / 跟…一起 + VP一共 gives a total; 一起 means doing an action together.
Experiential 过
S + V + 过 + OUse 过 after a verb to say that someone has had an experience at least once before.
V过O for experience
S + V + 过 + OUse 过 after the verb to mark a past experience without focusing on one specific completed event.
