Noun measure words
number + measure word + nounChoose a measure word that fits the noun, including HSK 3 units such as 公斤, 斤, 角, 毛, 辆, 层, 封 and 句.
Reduplicated measure words
个个 / 张张 + 都…Reduplicating a measure word can mean every item in the set, often followed by 都.
Degree adverbs for more precise descriptions
比较 / 更 / 特别 / 挺 / 有些 + adjectiveUse a degree adverb before an adjective to make a description more precise instead of relying only on 很.
Expanded comparison patterns
A 比 B 更 / 还 + adjective; A 跟 B 一样; A 不比 B + adjectiveHSK 3 expands 比 comparisons and adds ways to express equality or deny an expected difference.
Either-or alternatives
或者 A，或者 BRepeat 或者 to present two explicit alternatives when a choice must be made.
Approximate numbers
大概 + number; adjacent numerals + measure wordUse 大概 or two neighboring numerals to give an approximate rather than exact quantity.
