Why this text is here: Introduce Sichuan cuisine through verified regional context and category diversity, while avoiding one-flavor stereotypes.
Sichuan cuisine formed and developed in the Bashu region and is an important regional food culture in China. Today, Sichuan cuisine includes not only stir-fried dishes but also Sichuan-style dishes, pastries and snacks, hotpot and other categories.
Hěn duō rén xiān xiǎngdào málà, búguò Chuāncài de kǒuwèi hé zuòfǎ bìng bù zhǐ yǒu yì zhǒng. Jièshào dìfāng yǐnshí shí, zuìhǎo shuōmíng jùtǐ cài, cáiliào hé zuòfǎ, ér bú yào bǎ yí ge zuì yǒumíng de wèidào shuō chéng suǒyǒu cài, suǒyǒu jiātíng dōu yíyàng.
Many people first think of numbing-spicy flavors, but Sichuan cuisine has more than one flavor or cooking method. When introducing regional food, describe the specific dish, ingredients and preparation instead of turning one famous flavor into a claim about every dish or family.

Why this text is here: Use a personal dining story to model asking about local food instead of assuming everyone shares the same preference.
When Vietnamese student Minh An first ate Sichuan food with friends in Chengdu, he worried every dish would be very spicy. His friend did not simply say ‘Sichuan food is not spicy’; instead, the friend asked his spice tolerance and ingredient preferences before looking at the menu together.
They eventually ordered several dishes with different flavors. Minh An felt the interesting part of regional food was not only memorizing famous dish names, but understanding why different dishes use different ingredients and methods.

Why this text is here: Connect food-culture knowledge to reporting practice while separating regional background from personal taste.

While working on her Chengdu feature, Chen Yu also interviewed several restaurants. She first checked the background of local food, then asked owners about main ingredients, flavors, and preparation. Some people told her they especially liked spicy food, while others preferred milder tastes.

When writing, she placed verifiable regional food information first and kept customers' and her own tastes under personal experience. This way readers could learn some cultural background without treating one person's taste as the habit of everyone in the area.

A long-established shop becomes a brand not merely through age; it must preserve distinctive qualities and adapt to new customer needs.
