“画蛇添足”什么时候适合用
Why this text is here: Explain meaning and pragmatic fit without reducing an idiom to a literal translation.
“Huà shé tiān zú” cháng yònglái xíngróng shìqing běnlái yǐjīng wánchéng, què yòu zēngjiā bù bìyào de bùfen, jiéguǒ fǎn'ér bù hǎo. Lǐjiě tā shí, zhòngdiǎn bú shì shé hé jiǎo běnshēn, érshì “duō zuò de yí bù pòhuài le yuánlái de jiéguǒ”.
“画蛇添足”常用来形容事情本来已经完成,却又增加不必要的部分,结果反而不好。理解它时,重点不是蛇和脚本身,而是“多做的一步破坏了原来的结果”。'画蛇添足' describes adding an unnecessary step after something is already complete, making the result worse. The point is not literally snakes and feet but the damage caused by needless addition.
Lìrú, yí fèn jiǎnjié de tōngzhī yǐjīng bǎ shíjiān dìdiǎn xiě qīngchu, yòu jiāshàng hěn duō yǔ huódòng wúguān de cháng jiěshì, jiù kěyǐ shuō yǒudiǎn “huà shé tiān zú”. Dàn rúguǒ bǔchōng de shì ānquán yāoqiú huò wúzhàng'ài xìnxī, jiù bù néng yīnwèi wénzì biàn cháng ér zhèyàng píngjià.
例如,一份简洁的通知已经把时间地点写清楚,又加上很多与活动无关的长解释,就可以说有点“画蛇添足”。但如果补充的是安全要求或无障碍信息,就不能因为文字变长而这样评价。A clear notice that adds long irrelevant explanation may be called '画蛇添足.' But adding safety or accessibility information should not be criticized merely because the text becomes longer.
Practical textShort article
同一句“还行”为什么意思不完全一样
Why this text is here: Observe how tone and context shape a common expression.
朋友问饭菜怎么样,有人笑着说“还行”,可能表示基本满意;如果评审在正式报告里写“结果还行”,语气就显得不够准确,因为读者不知道是达到标准、接近标准还是只是个人感觉。When a friend asks about food, a smiling '还行' may mean basically satisfied. In a formal review report, however, saying a result is merely '还行' is too vague because readers do not know whether it met a standard, nearly met it or reflects only personal feeling.
语言现象常常不是“一个词只有一个固定意思”,而是词汇意义、语气、关系和场景一起决定效果。学习者可以先概括常见用法,再通过更多例子修正理解。Language phenomena are often not one word with one fixed meaning; lexical meaning, tone, relationship and context jointly shape effect. Learners can summarize common usage and refine it through more examples.
Study the pattern, then replace the example information with details from your own situation.

Běn jù lǐ de “rúcǐ” bú shì zhǐ yí gè jùtǐ wùpǐn, érshì gàikuò qiánmiàn yǐjīng miáoshù de zuòfǎ.本句里的“如此”不是指一个具体物品,而是概括前面已经描述的做法。In this sentence, '如此' does not refer to an object; it summarizes the method already described.

Use the pattern to summarize what remains central after repeated discussion or thought.
